Trucker's Journal

I've been a trucker since November, 2004. Before that I was an accountant for many years. I'm having fun and actually making more than I did before. Go figure....

OK, think this one through. The slope is 5% and you can't stop. Does it make any sense to go down a 7% ramp? Terror and disaster wait at the bottom if you do.

I've seen trucks in these along the Blue Ridge escarpment east of Asheville, N.C. The trucks are said to have a LOT of damage from the small rocks and the way they flood any open space as the truck bogs down. Nonetheless, all the trucks I've seen in one of these were upright, the cab area was undamaged (broken windscreen or two from the rocks was about it) and the box was intact, but most of all no one was killed or injured. These safety ramps do work.
